1. Overview
This policy supplements our Terms of Service and lists the specific categories of activity that are not allowed on Commerce OS. Violation may result in account suspension, termination, and (in cases of legal violation) referral to law enforcement.
2. Prohibited activities
Illegal goods or services: anything illegal in your operating jurisdiction (controlled substances without proper licensing, weapons restricted under federal/state law, counterfeit goods, stolen property, etc.).
High-risk regulated industries without proper licensing: cannabis (state-license required), firearms (FFL required), gambling (state-license required), money services (FinCEN registration required).
Adult content or services involving minors. Adult goods/services involving consenting adults are not categorically prohibited but require an explicit case-by-case approval; contact [email protected].
Pyramid schemes, multi-level marketing without genuine retail product sale, or any business model that derives the majority of revenue from recruiting other sellers.
Fraudulent activity: chargeback abuse, knowingly accepting stolen card data, false advertising, deceptive trade practices.
Harassment or hate speech directed at customers or employees through any platform surface (storefront chat, customer notes, etc.).
3. Platform misuse
Attempting to circumvent rate limits, scraping data outside the documented API surface, or running denial-of-service attacks against our infrastructure or other merchants.
Reverse-engineering proprietary code, bypassing license restrictions on hardware, or using the API to build a competing platform that resells Commerce OS functionality.
Excessive resource consumption that materially affects other merchants. We provide generous quotas; contact us before launching workloads that would consume >100x typical SMB usage.
4. Reporting violations
If you believe another merchant or user is violating this policy, email [email protected]. We take every report seriously and will respond within one business day.
5. Enforcement
For non-imminent violations, we provide written notice and reasonable cure periods. For imminent harm (active fraud, illegal goods, exploitation), we suspend immediately and notify post-action.
Disputes about enforcement decisions can be appealed via [email protected].
